Samarucs
is the longest running LGBTQ+ Sports Club in Valencia, was founded in 2003. We provide a safe space, free from any kind of discrimination, for anyone who wishes to take part in sport, regardless of their sexual orientation, sexual identity, or gender expression.
We aim to promote the visibility, inclusion and acceptance of the LGBTQ+ community in the world of sport, an environment in which, even today, there are many cases of discrimination towards athletes based on their sexual orientation, sexual identity, gender expression or sex characteristics.
Having started with just one sports section, we have grown continually over the years, adding new sports disciplines to arrive at the sixteen sections we have today: Taekwondo, Swimming, Quadball, Rowing, Tennis, Dance, Fitness, Running, Volleyball, Beach Volleyball, Theatre, Football, Multi-sports.

In this sports club you’ll find more than just athletes. Our more than 500 members have become a family – this is the key that has helped our club grow so strong over the years. Beyond sports we also do a variety of other fun, wellness, cultural and gastronomic activities, making Samarucs so much more than just a sports club.
We are active members of a variety of organizations that defend the rights and interests of the LGBTQ+ community ; founding member of the Agrupación Deoprtiva Ibérica (ADI), created by various LGBTQ+ sports clubs and groups in Spain and Portugal; supporters of the European Gay and Lesbian Sport Federation (EGLSF) and the Federation of Gay Games. In addition, since 2021 we have formed part of the Generalitat Valenciana’s Consell Valencià LGTBI.
